At the heart of a Dental Hygienist's role lies the commitment to preventive care and the treatment of gum disease. Wangsgard Family Dental has four hygienists on staff, and each month we’ll introduce you to one of them, as they share a preventative dental tip you can do at home.
Liz Gutierrez, the daughter of Mexican immigrants, was inspired by her interest in science and positive childhood dental experiences to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. She joined Wangsgard Family Dental in June after earning her B.S. in Dental Hygiene from Weber State University.
Liz is passionate about helping the Latino community, noting that only 12% of dental hygienists are Latino. While fluent in Spanish, she is committed to providing excellent care for all of her patients.
“My passion for dental hygiene has just begun, and I’m excited to help others, one appointment at a time!” she says.
Outside of work, Liz enjoys traveling, playing soccer, cooking and trying new foods—her favorites include enchiladas and soups like posole.
Liz’s Top Tip: A regular routine of brushing and flossing is key to both oral and overall health!
“My patients often see me more than their regular doctor,” said Liz. “That’s why a daily routine of brushing and flossing is so important for maintaining a healthy body as well as a healthy smile.”
You can book an appointment with Liz at Wangsgard Family Dental on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
